A heartfelt thank you to Kane & Blair Driggers for completing a meaningful community service project at Old St. David’s Cemetery cleaning gravestones and caring for the grave of our very first minister here at First Presbyterian Church, Rev. John Calkins Coit, and his two sons. They removed years of dirt, biological growth, and weather-related staining. Their willingness to preserve these sacred places is a beautiful reminder that our history is worth remembering and our heritage is worth protecting.  Reverend Coit served as the pastor from 1838-1857 and played a significant role in our church’s development during its formative years. He was widely recognized as a respected minister, author, and community leader.  Every gravestone tells a story of faith, sacrifice, and lives that helped shape the church we worship in today. May we all remember that we stand on the shoulders of those who came before us, and may we continue to cherish the rich history God has entrusted to our church for generations to come.
