Who We Are
Building Families Program

The Thornwell Building Families program is a community-based, intensive in-home intervention program designed to address the needs of families in crisis. The program provides services that build upon the existing strengths of families to reduce the stressors interfering with healthy family functioning. The goal is to equip families with the skills necessary to address the issues threatening family stability, keep children safe, reduce or eliminate the need for out of home placement of the children, and keep families together. FPC Cheraw hosts office space for a Building Families Specialist on our campus.

Could someone you know benefit from the Building Families program?

The Building Families program is here to help families and referred youth who are at risk as a result of family conflict, lack of parenting skills, child abuse and/or neglect, childhood emotional issues, disruptive behavioral problems and other at-risk situations that youth and families face. If eligible, Carisa meets with the family to identify goals and develop a plan to meet those goals.
